what we've been up to

I have found that Kirsten is actually listening to what I say. When I am tired and dont read to her she will turn the pages and say the names of the animals she knows. She pretty much read the parts (animals) that she knows to me. Little stinker. I knew she could do it. Why does she just blank stare at me when I talk to her?

What have we been up to? We went to a friend's barbeque last Sunday. They taught us how to play croquet. It was pretty fun. I almost won a game! I worked in a friends daycare all this week. Dustin and I went bowling for a date night last night:) The girls and I also went over to see their great grandma today.

Speech therapy & Changing diapers

Kirsten has been saying "duck" lately. Any small yellow bird is a duck. (we learned on a baby farm animal book) ... It sounds similar to dog, but it works.

The speech lady came today. I didn't feel like she really did much. Kirsten didn't know her, therefore, didn't want anything to do with her... plus her toys stink. I ended up reading her some of our own books because Kirsten would not let the lady read to her.

When Kirsten wasn't interested in her toys I told her we had some upstairs she could try. The lady was very impressed with our educational selection :) She said Kirsten was very smart, she was amazed that Kirsten loved books so much and would let me read them all to her, and that I looked like I was doing everything I could and should be doing. So I feel good about that.

She also said that she thinks Kirsten is very "independent" and maybe that's part of why she is CHOOSING not to talk. She thinks Kirsten could talk if she really wanted to. My Kirsten... independent... now who would have thought that, I mean, I have no idea where she got that or her stubbornness from hahahaha. The lady wants to make Kirsten try to ask for the things she wants more. But that was really all that happened. She just comes over and plays with her. I guess I was expecting some huge classroom lesson curriculum or something. She is coming back on Friday

But on a hilarious side note, Kirsten changes Mikelle's diapers. Kirsten has done things before like dragging Mikelle to the changing pad on the floor while I was going to the bathroom. But today, while I was transferring clothes to the dryer I hear Mikelle grunting. I go to where I left her to find her naked with Kirsten changing her diaper. Kirsten looks like she knows just what she is doing too! She tried this a couple times today, even going as far as trying to take her clothes off to change her. Kirsten is a pretty funny kid.

Kirsten got a tattoo! a rub on monster truck one from one of her friends birthday parties a while ago.
We baked some cookies! Kirsten managed NOT to dump everything out of the bowl and onto the floor this time :)

Kirsten is doing pretty good in her converted Toddler bed. Now that Daddy has the fence done he can make Kirsten's real toddler bed so we can move Mikelle in with Kirsten!

Kirsten has her first actual speech therapy appointment tomorrow.(At least I think so, I am getting really tired of these meetings and paper signings) Hopefully that will go well.

Our yard and fence!!!

I would like to start off by showing you a photo of our house when we moved in. It was a cute little house. However, the yard was all weeds and completely destroyed. There was no fence or landscaping...Here is what our house looks like now!!!

Just us

Just some photos of our week. Dustin and I put more rock in our front yard around our bushes. It looks really nice. Dustin also put part of the fence up today. He is going to finish it next weekend so I will wait until then to post yard photos. I will also post the photos of our bird feeders with the birds actually eating out of it! (Go figure) So excited.

Hooray I'm 3 months old! She is so cute, she coos and chatters at us all the time.
We went on a family walk a couple days ago. It was wonderful out that day. They both fell asleep it was so peaceful. Notice Mikelle holding her burp cloth. She loves to hold and knead her blankies and soft things.
Mikelle has awesome crazy hair. It wants to stand straight up. If you try to comb it down it sticks off to the side... so we just go with it :) She is so beautiful.
Kirsten has decided that she loves apples. Core and all. She gets mad at me when I take them away from her. She wants the whole apple so she can bite off pieces herself.
I took the girls to a friends birthday party today. It was a barbie party. So of coarse I had to dress them in skirts and the color pink.
